…so I can do VOIP via 3G.
Otherwise guess what…I don’t feel a shit different!
ATT 3G speed is ok, but on par with T-Mobile’s EDGE
GPS on this phone is practically USELESS, yes, it’s totally retarded and all you can do is tell you where you are and you can watch the stupid blue blinker move when you move. What’s the fucking point of that?
Video calls? Forget it, this dumb phone has a single camera and it’s on the back of the phone. And worst, the camera suck balls. If video calls ever enabled, then I would need to make a periscope-like iphone appendage/clip-on to reflect myself towards the back camera…duh.
Oh, and it feels a tad bigger, my old iPhone silicone case wraps it real tight, love it….hate the stupid plastic back plate.
To unlock it, I need to get a dumbo turbosim shit - Don’t need it now since I am on ATT as well.

Oh yeah. It’s the time of the year again that my itchy hands have to do something. Being at Microsoft and wasn’t able to check my mail with the iPhone is really frustrating. With the recent release of firmware 2.0, I just got to have it upgraded so I could use Outlook with my corporate emails. So just in case I remeber what I did (Cause I don’t when I unlocked version 1.0.2). This time around, things have been fairly simple and I don’t have to go through a bunch of hoops and loops just to get things work. So here’s for me to remember what I did:
- Download xWinPwn 0.3
- Download Firmware 2.0 for 1st Gen iPhone (2G sounds dumb)
- Download and install iTune 7.7 - Find it HERE
- Extract xWinPwn and copies the Firmware into this same folder.
- Open xWinPwn and click on “Create Custom IPW” that will create a custom firmware with some shit in it that will work the magic.
- Start PwnAge - I don’t think this is necessary but do it anyway.
- Turn off your phone and remove the sim card.
- Start iTune
- Start your phone in DFU mode
- Press Shift+Restore and select the custom firmware to restore
- When done, you have a jailbroken+activated+unlocked iPhone again. Yay.
So what if you want to downgrade? This is what I did though it wasn’t as simple as I thought. I did the exact step as above except that I used a 1.1.4 firmware. All was good until the end, Error 1015, crap. So it was the baseband version that’s causing the issue. So here’s what to do:
- Download and install iTune 7.5
- Download ZiPhone 3.0 - (this app is flaky, so not linking)
- Click on “ALL” and let it do all the crap it does
- Voila, a jailbroken+activated phone but not unlocked - find this info easily on G
- Follow step 9 above and restore it back to 1.1.4 to factory settings locked and shit.
Yay. Upgraded and downgraded just for fun
All the info here are for personal references only and not every detail steps were layout here. What I did was fairly simple and you can easily figure out any missing steps that I might have missed here.
Enjoy.

Just got a 4GB iPhone over the weekend for $299+tax. I was really tempted to get the iPhone when it was $200 more…luckily I did not….Guess it is well worth the wait. I can’t believe those stand in line for 3 days just to get it at $200 more than the current retail price.

Recently, Apple launches their Touch (iTouch) which looks exactly the same as the iPhone just without the phone. The 8GB iTouch cost the same as the 4GB iPhone..so I got the iPhone since I don’t need the extra 4GB space. Unlocking it was really risky. Went through alot of forums describing thousands of ways to unlock the iPhone…and some reported they bricked the phone….I was lucky I guess.

I cross reference a few tutorials and decide that one tutorial kinda like a superset of all the others. There were different ways posted for a MAC…but unfortunate, I have to looks for the ones for Windoze. The tutorial was simple enough except for the fact, it didn’t clarify what need to be done with a virgin phone in order for iBrickr to work…guess the main site did a great job mentioning it on the front page.

After unlocking, I can use my iPhone with my current carrier (T-Mobile)!!….When i first inserted my Sim, I got a “NO SIM CARD” error which freaked me out for a few secs there. No big deal, took the sim out and put it back and everything is fine, I see my signal bar rising and “T-Mobile” appears next to it. I am now able to connect to my Wifi network and browse the web using the phone. Pretty cool looking device.

You can basically tilt the phone horizontally or vertically for your viewing pleasure. YouTube video is great too. Browsing and viewing on the iPhone is totally great…many will ask “Can you even read that shit?” …hell yeah…by gliding your thumb and your index finger out diagonally, it zooms in, glide in diagonally, it zooms out. I haven’t got time to fiddle with it now, maybe I will check what otehr goodies they have in there over the weekend. Now I will need to unlock my friend’s iPhone..haha……I never thought I would buy an Apple Product….and no..I will never use a MAC…..NEVER!
