So what do you guys think? Nice? Doesn’t really look like me, does it?
The truth is, that’s really me. Only thing is, the picture was taken on Oct 16, 1998. Oh My God….. (and repeat after me!)

Please forgive me for the low quality of the pictures. Afterall, it was taken almost 10 years ago and digicam at that time wasn’t as sophisticated as what we have now. I found these photos while going through the pictures in my computer last week. Continue reading →
To the uninitiated, “Running of the Brides” refers to the bridal gown sale by Filene’s Basement, a department store selling discounted branded goods. The one-day sale is usually held once a year at various Filene’s locations. As to why it’s called “Running of the Brides”, google it or look at this website and you’ll know. Yup, brides-to-be practically run and snatch all the dresses they could get hold on once the store opens. Once they’re in, everyone just try on their gowns in the open area. There’s no fitting room, just mark your area, take off your clothes and start trying!
Previously I wrote about finding and deciding on a wedding gown from Ebay. Not long after that, however, I found out about this bridal event from another forummer online. She too, found her gown there and it was an amazing deal for a designer’s gown. That got me thinking, why not pay a little more for a designer’s gown? No doubt the Ebay gown would be made-to-measure but the material and workmanship were bound to be different. Anyway, with prices starting from $249, I could think of no reason not to check out the sale.
That got me started on the research on designer’s gowns. Vera Wang, Reem Acra, Amsale, Monique Lhullier etc… the list was endless. I scoured the net for gowns and saved those I liked for reference. Having said that, the bridal event was in February, in the midst of the busy season at work. And by saying “busy season”, I mean overtime everyday and tons of stress to meet deadlines. Alas, I did manage to shortlist some gowns but my mind was so tired on that day I could hardly remember anything.
I was really looking forward to the event and surprisingly, two days before the event, big boss at work announced that everyone gets Friday off to thank us for the hard work in meeting the deadline. That Friday was the day of the event!!! I was stressed for so long trying to think of an excuse to attend the event and there it was, a DAY OFF!!! At that time, I truly thought I would so find a dress during the event!
The only thing was, we had a party the next day after work for celebration and I went home drunk. Not drunk drunk but tipsy enough to lose my cellphone in the car service (##@##**) and woke up with a terrible hangover. I had to pull myself up from the bed, took some tylenols and had a long shower to wake myself up. Even then, I was tired and bloated and had a terrible headache. But I had to go to the event. I picked up another reusable bag from Whole Foods while I was at the store to get the I’m Not A Plastic Bag. I happen to like that bag a lot and at a mere USD 1, it’s really a steal!
Here’s the HONEY Bag!
