Before I became a nothing-better-to-do jobless + aimless person, my work place used to have this Pizza Friday events. Every Friday, the whole team gathers in the conference room to have a cool pizza lunch. Having pizza once a week was more than enough for me and back then, I hardly ever order pizza outside Pizza Friday. A month ago, I ordered my first pizza from Papa John’s for dinner since we had some friends over for movies. Pizza came promptly and it was nice. Since then, I’ve been bombarded with emails from Papa John’s with coupons and such.
Last weekend, I succumbed to my craving for pizza and *attempted* to order from Papa John’s. Yes, “attempted”. So much for all the coupons and promises of this and that from Papa John’s. I went to the online system and my location is no longer doing delivery, strictly take-out. How is that even possible when the outlet is only 0.5 miles from my apartment? Alex picked up the phone and called our Papa John’s store, only to be told that yes, they do delivery but coupons could only be used for online ordering. It means, it’s either you order over the phone and pay menu price for delivery OR you go online to use the coupon but pick up the pizza yourself. How’s that for bait and switch? BIG BOO to Papa John’s.
I was really upset at that moment. I wanted pizza so badly but I couldn’t imagine myself falling for their tactic and poor business ethics!!! After fussing for a bit, I suddenly thought of Domino’s. They too, have been sending me tons of coupons via the mail. And so I went online, checked out their deals and ordered 2 large pizzas for the same price I would have paid to Papa John’s. Quick and painless. And the big plus? Pizza was here in 1/2 hour. The only downside was I was charged $1.50 for delivery charges. I wasn’t happy about the delivery charges since it’s my first time having to pay for delivery but at least, I was given a choice. Happy with the pizza though. Yummy.
